Do You Know Your Operators?
One challenge many LinkedIn Recruiter users face is that Recruiter search won’t let you perform proper Boolean searches with most search fields. And some searches cannot be performed at all within the UI!
Consider the following chart:
These operators can be tricky for new users. First, you have to know where to put them (the Job titles field):
You can use Boolean to mix and match the operators and job titles for high-precision search.
I invite you to try the following examples and reach out with any questions:
((yoe:2 OR yoe:3 OR yoe:4 OR yoe:5) AND (degree:400)) OR ((yoe:5 OR yoe:6 OR yoe:7 OR yoe:8) AND (degree:200)) - someone with either 2-5 years experience and a Masters or 5-8 years and a Bachelors
manager AND (summary:managed AND summary:budget AND summary:teams) - manager titles whose About mentions past management of budgets and teams (i.e., people managers with budget authority)
(CSR OR "customer service") AND (spokenlanguage:Spanish OR profilelanguage:sp) - combine with United States (or narrow down to a city or state) in the Location filter for English/Spanish bilingual support reps
To use an example, just copy the italicized text and paste it into the Job title field in LinkedIn Recruiter. Be sure to select the Must have and Current options!
